Oh, I loved this. First, the rugs hanging from the rafters, then "For graduation you got a bathroom and walls." LOL Then an apartment. The slow progression of the basement space throughout this was great.
I also really appreciated your upbeat tone and happy ending for the character. I haven't read everything out there yet, but it's been a kinda grim week, me included. :)
