Happy Hogmanay!
Hogmanay is the Scottish last day of the year celebration. It goes back a while. Quite a long while.
Many years ago, before computers entered my life, I used to spend a long time writing my year-end post, by hand in my "hard copy" journal. I thoroughly examined the passing year and set goals for the next.
Not going to do that. :-)
The past year was full of challenges and struggles and I'm delighted to see the back of it. I did talk about quite a lot of it between LJ and Idol and you know, enough said.
On the positive side, I did read a lot more than I did the year before, I really learned how to use and enjoy my Kindle for that. In spite of all my issues, I was able to be there for a dear friend during a very difficult time in her life...
Just had a phone call from a grade-school friend. We were in grade four together, many many moons ago...So that's on the positive side too, because a fifty-year friendship is fantastic!
Did more shopping than I had in a while, thanks to my friend D who has become my fashion consultant. I love when she's with me, but I can hear her in my head when she's not and that's almost as good. So, I send her photos of me wearing things I buy when she's not here and get her advice via email. Oh! And brown boots that I love from Walmart. L calls them my "sexy boots." (Rolling my eyes.) I wish I'd bought a pair in black, too.
I've been working on Tarp City and it's down about a third, I'd like to take it down another third, maybe tomorrow and Wednesday. That feels good.
Most of the writing I've been doing for Idol has been anecdotal, which is new for me. I've been enjoying it, but I didn't do so well in the Gatekeeper round, so now I'm nervous about it. For some reason, fiction isn't really there for me so far. Maybe next year. ;-)
That about sums up my year. Not too much happened that I haven't already shared, and almost everyone I talk with has said that they can't wait to see the end of 2018.
So, onward and upward, my friends! Wishing us all the very best in 2019!
